Spring Break 2010

We really had a hard time planning our Spring break.  Jon had a Principal's conference Sunday-Tuesday and he was receiving his award for Principal of the year, so it's not like he could or would want to miss it.  So, that left Tuesday through the end of the week.  Do we go out of town, stay here, visit friends, or family, or just go with the flow and see what happens?  Here is how we spent our week.
On Sunday when Jon left to go to the lake for his conference the girls and I headed up to the farm to get ready for a surprise 59th b-day party for my mom.

The whole family, except Jon, was able to make it.

The girls and I spent the night and then on Monday helped Paw Paw around the farm.  We burned straw that had been covering the strawberries, raked and burned sweet gum balls, and planted in the green house.

It wasn't all work we took time out to go fishing in the evening too.

We caught 7, Paw Paw said that was the perfect number for him and Maw Maw for dinner next week.
On Tuesday we drove home and met back up with Jon for a second before he went up to school for a track meet.
On Wednesday we slept in and then we went fishing just the four of us.

On Thursday we headed to Branson.

A little putt putt action.
And we took the girls on their first Go Kart ride.

Gracie was a little nervous.
It was so fun.  Gracie and I took off out of the start and made a full lap before we looked behind us, to our surprise we saw NO ONE behind us.  Since that is no fun I just stopped right in the middle of the track to wait for Jon and Lexi.  We spent the next 4 or 5 laps keeping them behind us,

but since I am such a loving mom I wanted Lexi to feel what it was like to be in the lead, so we took to the outside on the last lap and let them pass.
Jon's Kart was so slow he had to work really hard to not let Gracie and I pass.  I again took to he outside and he cut me off, of course I didn't stop so we slammed into them and he went sideways and we were stuck.  When the HS worker came over to set us straight he gave us a firm talking to about why that is why you are not suppose to bump, blah, blah, blah.  I couldn't stop laughing at him.  Hello 17-year-old kid you work at a go kart place this is your job, of course people will bump if they want to have fun...too funny.  So, Jon and I were the only ones to needs assistance--the oldest people on the track with the youngest people as passengers!

We let them have a turn driving by themselves.
They LOVED it even with no one else on the track.

On Friday we spent the day at Silver Dollar City
We had no idea but when we got there (an hour before the park opened to eat breakfast like always)  the Easter Bunny was handing out bags for kids to collect eggs that were hidden all over the park.
We had no idea what we were collecting empty eggs for, so I told them to stop after 10 and let some other kids get some so we could eat.  After we were done eating we read in the booklet that it was a contest to see who could collect the most.  Game on....As soon as the park opened we went straight to our first stop, kid section, and the girls filled their bags with eggs.  At 3 o'clock we went back to the front for the counting.  First up was kids years 1-4, not us, I was thinking crap they will have compete against each other, and then they called for the 5 year olds only, I was like YES.  Gracie went up there and she came in second to a girl who had combined her eggs with other people.  She got some SDC dollars.
Then it was 6 year olds turn.
Lexi WON!!  (She was also the only 6-year-old that came forward-it was raining pretty hard at that time.)  But if you ask her she won GRAND champion and Gracie only got 2nd, very important!
More SDC money which they both spent about 2 minutes after they got it.

They also played a lot of games.

Wasting time while the girls played on the tree house.

Then Saturday we slept in and then went to Krispy Kreme.
Mark it down Lexi ate part of a donut, the Cinnamon kind and she didn't like the middle!  So weird!
We ended our Branson trip with shopping at the outlet malls-yea!
Then was Easter Sunday.
We went to Maryland Heights COC.
Lots of eggs as usual
We also went to Alissa's for lunch but no pics of that.
And that concludes our Spring Break!  For the most part we had perfect weather and we definitely had a WONDERFUL time!!!

One last picture of the girls and their first lemon aid stand at our garage sale the Saturday after Spring break.
They made $17!!!

They were so happy!!  They split the money added it to their money from Easter and hit Wally World that afternoon!!  Just like their daddy money just burns holes in their pockets!  I will leave you with one funny Gracie story......Once when Gracie was pouring lemon aid for a random guy she spilled it (the lemon aid not the cup) the cup was over flowing when she picked it up to give to random guy so she kindly took a few sips off the top before she handed it to him!!!  Now that's full service!!

Chicago Earnharts came for a visit

Lexi, Gracie, Nick, and Ella

Even though it was a short visit, it was so good to see them.  Nicholas is a doll and warms up to people so quickly, adorable!
We also took a little time to celebrate Grace's 5th birthday again.
She is so happy that her closet is now full of dresses, one for every day!

Oh that's right people I made this, much better then the last cake I made that wasn't in a 9X13 pan.

He is so stinkin lovable!

Seriously, why do I even bother taking more then one picture.  If they are all looking the first time, let it go that is the best you will get!

Last weekend we went bowling with my family...whoa it was a good time.  The best was my mom....oh my word she brought her 1970 purple ball with SANI etched on it and her all white shoes-awesome, when she stepped up to the lane for her first throw she rared back and we all watched the ball fly off backwards- it was aesome!  Of course I don't know what was worse that or the fact that she beat me by 4 pins!

Before bowling we meet at McDonalds for some good eats.

You know you have a lot going on when....

...you almost leave your oldest daughter at school!  Yes, people I almost left Lexi at school last Thursday!  Here is a list of all my excusses:
1. We are getting ready to put our house on the market-tons of work.
2. I was leaving early b/c we were meeting someone to look at a piece of property after school that day.
3. She went to All Aboard (daycare) the day before on the bus.
4. She didn't come to my office after school like she was suppose to, she went to Cindy's.
5. The end of school is the busiest special ed testing time.
6. I am in an on-line class which has busy-work galore.
7. I have a cold.
The reality is, I ALMOST left her, so it does really count.  When I left my office I told Brenda, my secretary, bye headed to the car with directions, my homework print outs, and my purse, by the time I got to the car I thought to myself, "I feel like I am forgeting soemthing."  ANd then it hit me LEXI!!.  Since I was already at my car I just called Cindy and had her send Lexi out the door by her office while I drove around.  Not only did Lexi meet me there but so did Paula, Cindy , and Mrs. Swope, laughing hysterically mind you!  Then on Friday I received numerous e-mails and phone messeages reminding me to pick up my child.  Why oh why did I not just go back in to pick her up and keep it to myself?

Coming up....Gracie turns 5!
