So, this story did not happen to me or my kids, it didn't even happen at my school, but I think it is so funny, so I thought I would share....
Picture it....4th grade class working on long division. The kids are really having to concentrate and think. One little boy is so stressed out that he closes his eyes, and puts his middle finger and thumbs together and breathes deeply. The teachers looks at him and says, "Tommy, what exactly are you doing?" Billy seeing all this happening answers for Tommy, "Mrs. Smith, he is MASTURBATING!!" Without missing a beat, Mrs. Smith says, "Do you mean meditating?"
I would have died if that happened in one of my classes!!!

Oh no she didn't say that!!!
So we all know that Gracie comes up with some doozies. When you combine a 5-year-old mind, with someone who has no clue, and can't go more than 30 seconds without talking.....we laugh A LOT!! Anyways, so we had Parent teacher conference last Thursday and we sit down with Mrs. Pock and discuss Gracie's kindergarten year so far. She told us things like, "Sometimes I don't know why I am here because Gracie instructs the class before I even have a chance to." and "I just don't want her bossiness to get to a point where no one wants to be her friend. " You know, good stuff like that, but then she said, "Have you talked with Mrs. Roades?" Mrs. Roades is Gracie's speech teacher (she has a bit of an /s/ problem), and Gracie LOVES going to speech, so it didn't really dawn on me to talk with her, especially since I talk with Mrs. Roades everyday multiple times a day and she never said anything to me. Long story short we go and talk with Mrs. Roades and she informs us that a few times when she has instructed Gracie wait quietly because it was not her turn Gracie looked at her and said, "Well, I am just gonna tell my daddy that you said that to me, he is the principal!!!" WHAT??? My kid who is in kindergarten is trying to intimidate her speech teacher with her daddy's job? How embarrassing!!! I mean seriously, Jon and I try to go out of our way to make sure our kids don't get special treatment because of our jobs, and our own kid is the one pointing it out! We were so embarrassed and so angry with her. However, she meet her match with Mrs. Roades and Mrs. Roades response was, "OK Gracie let me make a note that I asked you to wait your turn and you choose to continue talking. Do you want to take this to your dad now or later?" LOVE IT!! What a great come back, someone has to knock that kid down to size! And that is one of the many reasons why Jon calls her Sugarbear...sweet one second and mean the next. I just think she is bi-polar. HA!

e-mail from Gracie's teacher
I had the kids draw a picture of their family.
Gracie said my dad is bald but he’s not old he’s just 18. But he is really bald and really tall, but not as tall as Mr. Pock and Mrs. Pock’s brother, just really tall and bald.
And then she said and my mom is really short and she has freckles on her head. But my mom and dad hold hands even though my daddy’s really tall and my mommy’s really short.
Just thought I’d share, she is so proud of you both!!!
Have a great day!

Gracie Graduates!!!
Each graduate stood up and recited a nursery rhyme. Gracie's was "Mary, Mary, quite contrairy."
She received her diploma and an award for "personality plus," shocking isn't it?
Gracie with "her girls"
Ms. Jessica was Gracie's teacher when she was in the babies and when she was in the 2-year-olds. We love her.
Ms. Debbie was also her teacher in the 2-year-old class and she has been Gracie's teacher all this year. We also LOVE Ms. Debbie.

Wildcat Field of Pride
Our school has needed a new track for many years. As an entire community we finially have an entire complex we can be proud of.
It was kind of a big deal. We released the whole school around 1:30 to head to the track for the dedication. Lexi was very confused she was all, "That track isn't new we have already used it last month."
One of my students waiting to release her balloon.
The ribbon cutting
Jon worked so hard on this project. He attended MANY meetings, made MANY phone calls, and had a huge part in the planning.
Lexi acting silly after the dedication.

Welcome to my world
So you know I do all the academic testing for the district. This week I was administering the Woodcock Johnson III and here is one student's responses on the writing portion. Just so you know he was looking at a small picture and I gave him a prompt and then told him to write a good sentence.
Yes, I know it has no spaces in it, neither did the one the student gave me, and his writing was way worse then typed letters. Can you read what it says? Leave a comment with your guesses. Just so you know this is a student who moved to our district two months ago in the second grade. He had no IEP. The teacher was all....hello, something is wrong here, that is why we tested him.

Spring Break 2010
We really had a hard time planning our Spring break. Jon had a Principal's conference Sunday-Tuesday and he was receiving his award for Principal of the year, so it's not like he could or would want to miss it. So, that left Tuesday through the end of the week. Do we go out of town, stay here, visit friends, or family, or just go with the flow and see what happens? Here is how we spent our week.
On Sunday when Jon left to go to the lake for his conference the girls and I headed up to the farm to get ready for a surprise 59th b-day party for my mom.
The whole family, except Jon, was able to make it.
The girls and I spent the night and then on Monday helped Paw Paw around the farm. We burned straw that had been covering the strawberries, raked and burned sweet gum balls, and planted in the green house.
It wasn't all work we took time out to go fishing in the evening too.
We caught 7, Paw Paw said that was the perfect number for him and Maw Maw for dinner next week.
On Tuesday we drove home and met back up with Jon for a second before he went up to school for a track meet.
On Wednesday we slept in and then we went fishing just the four of us.
On Thursday we headed to Branson.
And we took the girls on their first Go Kart ride.
Gracie was a little nervous.
It was so fun. Gracie and I took off out of the start and made a full lap before we looked behind us, to our surprise we saw NO ONE behind us. Since that is no fun I just stopped right in the middle of the track to wait for Jon and Lexi. We spent the next 4 or 5 laps keeping them behind us,
but since I am such a loving mom I wanted Lexi to feel what it was like to be in the lead, so we took to the outside on the last lap and let them pass.
Jon's Kart was so slow he had to work really hard to not let Gracie and I pass. I again took to he outside and he cut me off, of course I didn't stop so we slammed into them and he went sideways and we were stuck. When the HS worker came over to set us straight he gave us a firm talking to about why that is why you are not suppose to bump, blah, blah, blah. I couldn't stop laughing at him. Hello 17-year-old kid you work at a go kart place this is your job, of course people will bump if they want to have fun...too funny. So, Jon and I were the only ones to needs assistance--the oldest people on the track with the youngest people as passengers!
We let them have a turn driving by themselves.
They LOVED it even with no one else on the track.
On Friday we spent the day at Silver Dollar City
We had no idea but when we got there (an hour before the park opened to eat breakfast like always) the Easter Bunny was handing out bags for kids to collect eggs that were hidden all over the park.
We had no idea what we were collecting empty eggs for, so I told them to stop after 10 and let some other kids get some so we could eat. After we were done eating we read in the booklet that it was a contest to see who could collect the most. Game on....As soon as the park opened we went straight to our first stop, kid section, and the girls filled their bags with eggs. At 3 o'clock we went back to the front for the counting. First up was kids years 1-4, not us, I was thinking crap they will have compete against each other, and then they called for the 5 year olds only, I was like YES. Gracie went up there and she came in second to a girl who had combined her eggs with other people. She got some SDC dollars.
Then it was 6 year olds turn.
Lexi WON!! (She was also the only 6-year-old that came forward-it was raining pretty hard at that time.) But if you ask her she won GRAND champion and Gracie only got 2nd, very important!
More SDC money which they both spent about 2 minutes after they got it.
They also played a lot of games.
Wasting time while the girls played on the tree house.
Then Saturday we slept in and then went to Krispy Kreme.
Mark it down Lexi ate part of a donut, the Cinnamon kind and she didn't like the middle! So weird!
We ended our Branson trip with shopping at the outlet malls-yea!
Then was Easter Sunday.
We went to Maryland Heights COC.
Lots of eggs as usual
We also went to Alissa's for lunch but no pics of that.
And that concludes our Spring Break! For the most part we had perfect weather and we definitely had a WONDERFUL time!!!
One last picture of the girls and their first lemon aid stand at our garage sale the Saturday after Spring break.
They made $17!!!
They were so happy!! They split the money added it to their money from Easter and hit Wally World that afternoon!! Just like their daddy money just burns holes in their pockets! I will leave you with one funny Gracie story......Once when Gracie was pouring lemon aid for a random guy she spilled it (the lemon aid not the cup) the cup was over flowing when she picked it up to give to random guy so she kindly took a few sips off the top before she handed it to him!!! Now that's full service!!
