OLD NAVY
OK so yesterday we went shopping. The very first store we went to was Old Navy. It wasn't even on our list of stores to go to, we kind of forgot it was in the location we were shopping. So was see the sign and are always up for an Old Navy visit so we pull in. Within five minutes Jon comes to me and says, "Oh yeah, there are a ton of things in here, today will be a good shopping day." (We always judge the whole day on the first store, I know stupid.) We spend a good 45 minutes in the store, you know trying stuff on (girls too), numerous trips to see the little fake dog on the bench in the children's section, and deciding on sale prices, etc. We have our items to buy, Jon-2 shorts on sale two for 30, good deal, and 2 dresses for the girls on sale 2 for 20, again another good deal, we proceed to the check-out. There was only one other group in line in front of us and by the conversation we could tell it would take awhile (clue #1) so the manager lady says she will help us at her counter. She rings up Jon's shorts and they ring up 50 dollars or something crazy like that and he proceeds to tell her that the sign said they were 2 for 30. She very nicely says, "Oh, what sign?" Jon points to it and says, "The sign TOUCHING the rack where I got these shorts." She then walks over to the rack and reads the sign and lets him know that sign is talking about the OTHER shorts, you know the ones NOT touching the sign, three feet away. "Oh, that makes sense, our mistake, well, we don't want those." She smiles and then rings up the dresses--35 dollars. Now, I chime in, "Hold on, the sign said 2 for 20 (You see where this is going, right?) She then says, "Oh, I'll have Janna, or whoever, go check on that. Where were these located." I then give her an EXACT description of where they were and where the sign was. She then gets on her little headphone thing (LOVE THAT), and relays the message to 16-year-old-Janna, who is also a manager type person. After much headphone talking, no luck so she tells me to go back there and show her what I am talking about. As I am walking back there I am getter madder every step I take cause I know it will be a repeat of the shorts from 5 minutes earlier. Once to the back of the store I show here the sign, that very clearly says 2 for 20, that is attached to one small rack of dresses which is where I got them from. She then tells me, "Read the very small print at the bottom that says this sale is only for the low-waisted dresses all mixed in with the dresses you would like to buy." ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME???? Now, I'm pissed, and I make sure she is fully aware of my "unhappiness." I then walk back to the front and motion for my family to come on and my girls look up at me and ask, "Why aren't we buying our dresses. Why are we leaving this store?" (Please hold for Best Mom ever comment.) Of course I wasn't done with my temper tantrum so I said real loud like it was gonna hurt someones feelings, "Cause this store is stupid!!" Nice, huh? I am so mature. I really didn't even LOVE the dresses. But, then of course I had to listen to my kids tell me how we don't say stupid, which helps my temper just calm right down (please hear my sarcasm). I love Old Navy, but they really let me down yesterday. I told Jon they do that crap on purpose so people will either a-not notice the price when they check out, or b-just say they will take it anyway. Well, not this cheapskate. I'll show them. (Cause ya know I am really hurting their business by not buying those few things.) Anyways, don't fret--Target came through, as always, and the girls got some cute dresses perfect for beach pictures this summer, and cheaper, so it all worked out. And, despite our first store setting a precedent for the day, not this time, we found some really good deals.
Hair
This morning I gave the girls a bath and dressed them and then left them in front of the TV so I could shower and get myself ready. At one point I walked through the living room and I saw Gracie sitting in her kid rocking chair while Lexi sat behind her fixing her hair. The thought that ran through my head was, "Oh, that is so cute. What a great big sister." Fast forward 20 minutes later. There is 5 minutes before we have to leave and the girls' hair is still wet. I call Lexi into my bathroom for me to dry it real quick. As I am drying her hair she drops something. As she is picking it up she tells me and I quote, "Oh I dropped Gracie's dollar. She had to give me two dollars for me to fix her hair this morning." At this point I am stunned. I didn't really know what to say to her, do I scold her for taking advantage of her sister, do I ignore it and let them work it out, or do I say, that-a-girl that attitude will make you the head of some company some day. Of course I'm totally kidding about the last one, well sort of. :-) Anyways, I said nothing for now and Jon and I will deal with it when they wake up from their naps. But, so much for my, "What a great big sister." thought!!
